Introduction
Part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, Putney High School is an independent school in London with a rich heritage and a commitment to academic and creative excellence. The school approached Piranha AV to enhance the AV setup in their historic chapel, a unique space used for assemblies, talks, and performances.
The brief
The chapel needed a discreet and effective AV system that respected the building’s character while enhancing its function as a modern gathering space. The school required clear visuals, balanced audio, and simple controls that could be used confidently by staff and pupils alike.
The solution
We delivered a tailored setup that met both the technical and architectural requirements. A bright Epson laser projector was installed with a short-throw lens to reduce shadowing, paired with a low-profile electric screen that retracts neatly when not in use. The screen position and height were carefully chosen to maintain the chapel’s aesthetics.
For sound, we installed surface-mounted speakers for even coverage across the space, along with a lectern mic and wireless handheld for flexibility. A custom control panel was wall-mounted for quick and easy access without disrupting the space’s visual harmony.
The impact
The result is a refined AV solution that enhances the chapel’s functionality without compromising its visual or historical integrity:
- Improved presentations and talks with crisp, high-brightness visuals
- Clear audio delivery across the space, suitable for assemblies or small concerts
- Easy-to-use system requiring minimal training
- Sensitive design approach that respects the heritage setting
